Backstory from the founder of whiskyanalyst.com

Even though I had tried whisky in various forms in my late teenage and early adult years, it had never grown into a full blown passion until much later on.

Following a successful turn-around of a challenging situation at work in 2017, one of the Directors I worked alongside wanted to give me a gift.
The gift was a bottle of The Glenlivet Founders Reserve and a bar of Lindt Excellence 'A touch of sea salt' chocolate. I was under strict instructions to take a bite of the chocolate, chew it and then drink the whisky through it.

The flavour combination blew my mind!

Throughout the following years, I've wanted to try more and more interesting and exciting whiskies.
Most of the time now, it's without the chocolate, but I do find the occasional craving for salted pretzels to accompany a lovely dram of whisky.

I've been enjoying a lot of peated whiskies recently, though I was thrown a curve ball when a bottle of The Glenlivet 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (French Oak Reserve) was given to me as a present.
I was truly blown away by the sweet hit of candy, pear drop, citrus and apple flavours which transform into almond and honey. This was followed by a long, smooth, dry citrus, nutty, cinammon finish. It just left me wanting more!
This made me realise I was neglecting a whole world of amazing and enjoyable non-peated whiskies, so I'm trying to take a more balanced approach in what I try from now on.

If you would like to read all about whisky that I have tried so far, please head over to the Whisky Reviews page.
I really hope you enjoy discovering new whiskies with us and that you find yourself some loveable drams.
